Toni Coppers is writing “De Erfenis”, commissioned by Duvel.

Brewery Duvel Moortgat is launching an unexpected first: its own crime novel De Erfenis (The Inheritance), which is being written by a pre-eminent specialist: multiple award-winning thriller writer Toni Coppers.

Writing a thriller is like brewing a Duvel. It's not just the professional skill you need, but also passion, the right ingredients and a lot of patience. When I'm starting a new book, I seek out peace and quiet. It only ever takes one small thing to get the creative process going, just like yeast in brewing. It's always really intense, but it's wonderful to write a book, to try out words and mold sentences, with one certainty: letting the truth slowly but surely bubble up to the surface, just like the air bubbles in a glass of Duvel.”

De Erfenis tells the story of Kim Lavigne, a woman in her thirties who lost both her parents in an accident at a young age. She was taken in by Bernard, a passionate criminal investigator in Brussels. During her youth, Kim regularly spent time in a castle. Years later, Kim receives an invitation to that castle. When this is followed by a mysterious murder, Kim sets out to investigate with her uncle Bernard. The book is exclusively available at participating drinks retailers and supermarkets when purchasing 2 packs of 6 Duvels.
